GWC Founder, President & CEO

Monica Farias is the visionary founder, President, and CEO of the Greater West Covina Business Association (GWCBA), established in 2009. Under her leadership, the GWCBA has been a staunch advocate for the business interests of the West Covina community.

Monica also serves on the Board of Directors for San Jose Charter Academy and launched the podcast “Let’z Connect Now” during the pandemic to better serve her community. In 2016, Monica transitioned the GWCBA from a sole proprietorship to a non-profit organization, driven by her belief in the power of change and momentum.

Her commitment to the mission of “Empowering Businesses” is evident through her efforts to build relationships that encourage civic and educational engagement within Greater West Covina. The GWCBA is proud to host premier events such as the State of the City and Schools and the West Covina Public Safety Awards Recognition.

Monica is actively involved in numerous organizations, including the Kiwanis Club Division 35, the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, the YWCA Women of Achievement Planning Committee, and the Muscular Dystrophy Association. She has also played a key role in the West Covina Special Olympics World Games Planning Committee and serves as a liaison for the City of West Covina. Her dedication has earned her recognition from city leadership and community service organizations, including a nomination for the Woman of the Year award in 2010.

In her personal life, Monica values her roles as a wife and mother, finding true success in honoring God. She enjoys reading, volunteering, and spending quality time with her husband David and their family.

J.R. Esquivel is a highly accomplished Executive Director with a proven track record of leading diverse teams to achieve organizational goals. His expertise in driving growth, optimizing operations, and delivering exceptional results has been instrumental in the success of the Greater West Covina Business Association.

As the Executive Director of GWCBA, J.R.’s responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing strategic plans.

  • Overseeing the organization’s budget to ensure financial stability and growth.

  • Strengthening partnerships with key stakeholders to enhance collaboration and support.

  • Implementing innovative programs and initiatives.

  • Leading organizational change efforts to foster a culture of continuous improvement and adaptability.

J.R. is committed to fostering a positive work culture and building strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. His leadership and strategic vision continue to drive the GWCBA towards new heights of success.
