Monica Farias

GWC Founder, President & CEO

Monica Farias serves as the President and CEO of the Greater West Covina Business Association in the City of West Covina, which she founded in 2009. The GWC has been representing the business interest of the community since its inception. Monica also serves as a member of the Board of Directors for San Jose Charter Academy. During the pandemic Monica, launched her own Podcast “Let’z Connect Now”, to better serve her community .

In 2016, Monica decided to take a leap of faith and move forward with the transformation of the GWC by converting it from a sole proprietorship to a non-profit organization. She felt it was time, the GWC needed change, she told herself to “Keep Moving”, action creates momentum, which in turn creates unanticipated opportunities!

Mrs. Farias feels that one of her most important goals is to help further her organization’s mission of “Empowering Businesses” by improving, and continuing to build relationships that encourage participation with Civic and Educational organizations and programs within the Greater West Covina area. The GWC takes pride for hosting several premier events for the City of West Covina such as the State of the City and Schools, and the West Covina Public Safety Awards Recognition amongst other events.

In addition to her responsibilities, Monica is an active member of the following organizations: Honorary Member of Kiwanis Club Division 35, Committee member of the Relay for Life for the American Cancer Society, Chair of the YWCA for the Women of Achievement Planning Committee. Mrs. Farias also served as a volunteer for over 10 years for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA), and in 2015 served as a member of the West Covina Special Olympics World Games Planning Committee, which hosted the delegation from Nippon, Japan. She also serves as a liaison for the City of West Covina and has been recognized by both City Leadership and Community Service organizations for her partnership and collaborative efforts. In 2010 she was nominated by the business community for the Woman of the year awards hosted by Assemblyman Roger Hernandez.

Monica’s definition of true success is honoring God as a wife and mother. In her spare time Monica enjoys reading and spending time with her husband David, family, volunteering, and attending local events.
